I was recently lucky enough to land a task planning the launch event for Tracy Madden’s debut novel The Essential Ingredient – Love. This superb read, already being heralded as Australia’s answer to Eat Pray Love gave me all of the ideas I needed – it was inspiration at first sight.  Using the exquisite antique French furniture store Paris Design Living as a backdrop, we mapped out a Parisian wonderland. A line of antique street lamps lead the guests up the black carpet where they were greeted by an authentic French accordion player, who certainly looked the part, standing under the black and white gallery awnings, his beret and red neck scarf intact.

The guests looked amazing, standing beneath gorgeous chandeliers, sipping their champagne and indulging in foie gras canapés – mulling around the decadently arranged cheese station. The newly found and effortlessly glamorous author was at home in this space – essentially standing in scene from her book she worked the crowd, making each and every person feel welcome. Of course it wouldn’t have been an event done well without a fabulous take home goody bag, jam packed with girly treats, with Yuva skincare, Mor Perfume, Pure soaps, Campos coffee, film passes, Dr Red products, Cedel hairspray and Habitus Living Magazine.

Whether the product you are launching is food or fashion there is one rule when it comes to planning a launch event – bigger is better!  Make a noise about your new brand and it won’t be forgotten…
