It’s hardly a secret that Moo Moo’s owners Steven and Autumn Adams know a thing or two about how to throw a party and Tuesday night was no exception – if there was ever a reason to celebrate, this was it! We were lucky enough to have the task of planning the much anticipated re-launch soiree, which we structured as a fundraiser with all proceeds going towards the flood relief effort.

Free flowing Moet & Chandon, Belvedere cocktails including the Mootini (my personal favorite) and exquisite entrees, prepared by an impressive cavalry of talented chefs were very well received.  And if you’re still not impressed, a Moo Moo branded ice sculpture filled with Patron was stationed at the corner of the bar, with its own private bartender devoted to shot pouring.

With such a display of divine opulence and the who’s who of Brisbane roaming the room it was hard to believe that this gorgeous place, a truly iconic Brisbane venue, had undergone such hardship in previous weeks and almost didn’t make it.  12 weeks loss of trade and difficulties with insurance will put a strain on the best of businesses and it’s a testimony to the strong will and loyalty of the owners and staff that the venue made it through.

Steven Adams spoke about this time, interviewed by hosts Damien Anthony Rossi and Channel 7’s Liz Cantor.  It was a moving speech followed by positive affirmations about the future and much cheering.

The fundraising auction was performed by the very talented Haesley Cush, Managing Director of Ray White New Farm who expertly generated a bidding frenzy.  Among the items on offer, a Ricky Ponting cricket bat that raised over $2000 for the appeal.

There was an abundance of talent at this red carpet event, the room was filled with sporting and television celebs including high profile band The Frets and celebrity body guard and star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians Simon ‘Shengo’ Deane.

Perhaps the most unusual auction item, a lunch date with Shengo at Moo Moo’s the next day sold for $500… to a man!  We took pity on Shengo who was quite a good sport about this and negotiated with the winner, attending lunch in his place.  The Red PR girls were only too happy to help – all in the call of duty!
