While I secretly chastised myself for not having my phone on me, I rang her back and I listened.  I listened as I was offered a job within Red PR, I listened as I was offered a chance to step into an innovative and leading PR agency and I listened as I held my hand over my mouth trying not to scream with joy.

After interning for Red PR for nearly five months I was asked if I would consider stepping into a personal assistant role for the next four months with the opportunity to possibly step over to the PR side at the end. Would I consider this wonderful opportunity? Well Fleur and Rodica I’ve already got my desk accessories ready to go!

While it did mean that the irreplaceable previous PA Sammy was unfortunately moving over to a different industry, I was so grateful and simply so excited about this opportunity. How could I ever repay them? Obviously with hard work and dedication…..and maybe my undying enthusiasm for being under this Red umbrella!

Like any new job I was a mixed bag of nerves and eagerness. I knew the girls within the office, I had hinted for months now about my desire for a career within Red and I knew the creative and positive workplace I was about to officially step into, yet I still had my high pitched nervous laugh to contend with.

Being a PA to the Directors means sitting on the other side of the fence within a PR agency. You learn the ins and outs of how it all works, you are usually the first person a client is greeted by when coming into Red and you learn the who, what, where and why of this PR agency and that it won’t run unless you’ve had your morning coffee and involved in some serious organisation skills!

I am definitely aiming to move across into a PR role at the end of this four month period, but for now I am soaking it all in. Every step in life, whether it is what you planned or not, is a calculated movement towards your future…and if this personal assistant ‘step’ is anything to go by, I am in for a bright future.
