Did you know that more people own a mobile device than a toothbrush? In fact, mobile devices now drive over 50% of all ecommerce traffic within a population that as an average attention span of 0.7 seconds, that’s less than the average goldfish!

The digital landscape is now more important than ever if brands want to stay current, savvy and relevant. Brands no longer have the choice of opting in or out of the digital world; the choice is simply how well they do it.

Here at one of Australia’s leading PR agencies, brands call upon us to create engaging and noteworthy digital content that stands out from the crowd and captures an audience for longer than the average attention span.  In an ever increasingly crowded space this becomes a challenging and experimental process which can take a while to master. So as The Red Republic’s social media guru I am here to share with you my top four tips on how to create engaging content pronto!

  1. Get creative.

All great social media campaigns start with great content. Whether it’s your own photo shoot, a series of flat lays or designed tiles, content which has never been seen before will grab the viewers attention over typical stock standard images. It not only gives you the chance to build a strong and coherent brand personality but it gives you the chance to express individuality and show how creative your brand can be.

  1. Start a conversation.

Did you know 90% of buyers today trust a peer recommendation over an advertisement? It’s time to get your audience talking about how amazing you are in the social environment. Make your followers your best brand advocates by asking probing questions and replying to all comments, likes and shares to reinforce the behaviour. If a follower promotes your product, share their content on your platform and thank them. People love to feel valued and heard, plus they are doing some of the creative work for you.

  1. Create a culture.

Today everyone has access to a wealth of information through the World Wide Web. Users are now able to see through the messaging behind traditional advertising and want to know what really happens behind the scenes. Profiling quirky, fun facts about staff members, company directors or pets exposes your audience to the true culture and personality not detailed on a website. If they love the brains and beauty behind a brand then they are going to find what you’re promoting more genuine and relatable.

  1. Offer incentives.

Who doesn’t love a freebie? Running social competitions is simply the best way to increase social engagement pronto. Make your followers actively engage with your page by urging them to share, like or tag friends in order to win. This not only makes people engage with your content but share it with their family and friends as well. Keep your competition simple and make the incentive something a follower simply can’t pass by.
