Last month the Red PR Group showcased that anything can be for sale, including Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge, which formed the backdrop along with the Opera House for this year’s Garage Sale Trail media launch.
Held at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden, Garage Sale Trail founders Andrew Valder and Darryl Nichols welcomed guests to the official launch presented by the City of Sydney. Set within a mock up garage sale, Lord Mayor Clover Moore made a formal address at the launch, hosted by Garage Sale Trail ambassadors Tracey Spicer and Brendan Moar.
Acclaimed fashion designers Marnie Skillings and designer Liane Rossler then joined their fellow Garage Sale Trail ambassadors to pose for media pictures amongst items which you could find at a garage sale (including the Harbour Bridge!)
TV stations, radio programs, local and national press all watched and listened to Andrew and Darryl unveil the exciting developments for this year’s program including the impressive lineup of ambassadors and supporters.
The Garage Sale Trail encourages garage sales to be hosted all over the country in the name of sustainability, community and fun.
Taking place on 5 May 2012, the Garage Sale Trail welcomes everybody from households, local businesses, cultural institutions, charities, schools, libraries and community groups to participate in the biggest real-world community based market place in Australia.
It’s all about discovery of pre loved treasure, handmade goods and connecting with locals in your area. Our PR Agency Brisbane has already registered their ‘Red Hot Sale’, so if you’re in the Kangaroo Point area, please drop by for some great bargains! The PR Sydney Agency team will be following the Sydney trail and having fun at the various activities taking place on the day.
You can register your sale at www.garagesaletrail.com.au where participants can list items for sale. Buyers on the day can use TrueLocal.com.au to find the location of their nearest sales, which are also listed on the Garage Sale Trail website.
This is a fantastic community initiative that provides the opportunity to make some money or raise money for a cause, as well as connect with your local neighbourhood.
At Blue by Red PR we’re excited to be involved with this sustainable project and can’t wait for the big day!
To register, or for more information on the sales in your area, go to: www.garagesaletrail.com.au
Be sure to check out Garage Sale Trail on Twitter and Facebook.
Its a great idea isn’t it? When the day comes to an end and there is stuff unsold and not needed, I hope garage sale participants might consider donating via GIVIT.ORG.AU (A Brisbane Success btw Blue by Red)
