MADC Creative Showcase Recognises The Best Creative Advertising Agencies in Melbourne

HERO Melbourne has topped the MADC (Melbourne Advertising Design Creativity) annual Creative Showcase of Melbourne’s Top Creative Advertising Agencies, seeing local independent creative leader HERO awarded across multiple categories. True to their mantra “We Turn Burn Into HEROES,” HERO continues to produce groundbreaking work recognised for both its world-class creativity and effectiveness. HERO’s globally awarded ‘Metalmorphosis’ campaign for Toyota won in the Deference For Difference category, while HERO’s Cannes Lion winning ‘Through Their Eyes’ or Maybelline New York was Showcase Winner in Digital & Social, Non-Charity. HERO creative team Charlotte Smith & Will Fox were also crowned MADC’s Emerging Creatives of the Year, seeing HERO lead the pack of Melbourne’s top independent creative agencies for advertising and marketing.

The accolades follow HERO’s top spot in the coveted Campaign Brief Australia Agency of the Year Hot List for medium agencies, announced in February. Selected from over 300 agency entries, this number one ranking reflects HERO’s consistent delivery of world-class creativity, strategic excellence and integrated marketing solutions that deliver real business impact and again confirmed HERO as Melbourne’s Top Independent Creative Advertising Agency

In Melbourne’s globally recognised and hotly contested creative agency market, year on year HERO continues to top the ranks of Melbourne’s most awarded advertising agencies, for both creativity and effectiveness. HERO’s accolades include being named #1 Independent Agency by both the Effies APAC and Australian Effies, and winning Agency of the Year titles from the New York Festivals, Mumbrella, AdNews, B&T, and Campaign Brief. HERO’s work has also been recognised globally at ever top-tier festival around the world, including Cannes Lions, One Show, Clios, London International Awards, D&AD, Adfest, and Spikes Asia.

In the past year alone, HERO reinforced its reputation with standout campaigns like Maybelline’s globally-acclaimed Through Their Eyes campaign, which earned a Grand Prix at Mad Stars, Gold at AWARD, and top honours at Spikes Asia, along with a Silver Cannes Lion. HERO’s work for Toyota has also received widespread acclaim and HERO’s creative leadership was further celebrated with wins for Social Media Campaign of the Year and Game Changer of the Year at AdNews.

MADC is Australia’s oldest advertising club. Since 1955, it’s celebrated and elevated the very best work, people and companies Melbourne’s thriving creative community can muster. A reimagined and reinvigorated MADC has ushered in the new, with a fresh approach to celebrating Melbourne creativity. One that is inclusive of the stalwarts and a new generation of legends in the making.

MADC’s Award nights are legendary, leaving a Melbourne creative legacy etched in its famous MADC Star awards. The ‘MADC Stars Creative Showcase’ has introduced a new kind of award show through its curated collection of the best of Melbourne’s best creative ad agencies. The ‘MADC Presents’ series is a resounding success and a regular fixture in the creative calendar, offering an opportunity to be inspired by industry luminaries.

‘MADC Creative LIAisons’, MADC’s collaboration with the London International Awards, sees MADC host an inspiring series of advertising speakers, creative workshops and panel discussions. It runs concurrently with LIA judging. The competition element of the event, in its inaugural year, saw one lucky young Melbourne creative team win a trip to LA. And the ‘MADC One Show Portfolio Night’ sees MADC host an annual, once in a lifetime opportunity for up and coming young creatives, their books being seen and judged by Melbourne’s top CD’s, with one winner each year. This prestigious global event, based in NYC, chose the MADC as their Melbourne hosts. Building on the MADC’s commitment to continuing to support and build Melbourne as one of the world’s most creative cities in every way. So is impressive to see HERO Melbourne also recognised among Melbourne’s best creative ad agencies and Melbourne’s top independent creative agencies.

Of note also is McCann Melbourne, renowned for the cost awarded campaign in Cannes Lions history. McCann Melbourne has earned a global reputation as one of the most creatively celebrated and effective agencies, including being named the most awarded agency in the world. Its legendary “Dumb Ways to Die” for Metro Trains remains the most awarded campaign in advertising history and catapulted McCann Australia to the top of the global awards charts.

Indeed, McCann has consistently topped rankings for creativity and effectiveness, including the Effie Awards, Campaign Brief Hot List, and the WARC 100. The agency’s work is regularly honoured at international festivals such as Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, New York Festivals, and London International Awards, as well as local platforms like Mumbrella, B&T, AdNews, MADC, BADC, and AWARD Awards.

As part of the McCann Worldgroup, the agency combines global scale with local insight, operating across 120+ offices in 95 countries while maintaining a strong independent presence in Australia. This dual capability has enabled McCann to deliver award-winning campaigns across sectors—from Mastercard and University of Melbourne to V/Line, whose “Guilt Trips” campaign won the Cannes Lion Grand Prix for Creative Effectiveness.
